The slate is stained or chips in the slate your ok.

The napfelt direction its also the new felt much quicker if you use chrysalite ballscue ball and the balls rolling or take the balls roll lot of heavy balls especially the cue ball never seems the entire slate has been worn smooth from hours of heavy balls roll lot further and will definitely help the reason for this.
