My fiance and I met at a pool hall, both of us play in a league, and we love the game a LOT! Since we feel that pool is what brought us together in the first place, I’d like to incorporate it into the decorating at our wedding reception next Spring. Anyone have any creative ideas on how to do this without it being cheesy?
We already have our location. Our ceremony is out in the Duke Gardens at Duke University, and we have also rented their reception hall for the evening. So, no full size pull tables available. I HAVE thought of having an engagement party at one of our fav pool halls though. :) If you are of the opinion that incorporating something you love into your reception (RECEPTION, not wedding) is tacky, please don’t answer. I am asking for helpful suggestions, not your opinions about the validity of my ideas. I’m not saying you are wrong for feeling that way, I’m just saying that’s not what I’m looking for in answer to this question.

A wedding reception is supposed to be a celebration of the couple, and should be a reflection of them not necessarily what wedding traditions dictate. Come on people - lighten up!

I’m good at beating amateurs but that’s about it. The few times I lose to an amateur, it’s usually because I sank the eight ball too early. I think this is because I’m hitting the balls too hard; however, part of my luck in winning is hitting my balls (whether solids or stripes) HARD: if they don’t go into the intended pocket, I usually luck out with all the bounces and get them into some other pocket.

I’m doing a research and I’ve noticed that in Sydney, billiards are mostly found in hotels and bars where there is a certain age restriction for customers to play the billiards. If I open a place where people, regardless of ages, can enter and play billiards, will it be a success? Perhaps somewhere in CBD or Darling Harbour

I want to practice my game but I don’t have access to a table and can’t afford the space for one. I really like to play with my friends when we go out to bars but I don’t want to go there without practice because I always lose.
Can I buy a stick and balls and practice somehow?
