Aramith Are High-Quality Pool Table Balls
Filed Under Billiards | Comments Off
They’re not just your dad’s plain old billiards balls anymore. When it comes to pool table balls, you now have lots of styles from which to choose. Did you know that the billiards balls you use have a great influence on your game? So, what do you look for in quality billiards balls?
Billiards balls are judged along seven criteria: balance, density, brilliance, color, precision, diameter tolerance and surface polish. Almost 80% of all the pool table balls manufactured world-wide are Aramith balls, made by Saluc which is located in a small Belgium village. Because they are both The United States Professional Poolplayers Association’s and The American Poolplayers Association’s billiards ball of choice, Aramith balls are exclusively used in all of their tournaments.
Although the consistently of the roundness of your billiards balls is important, what’s most important are the raw materials used to manufacture the balls. These raw materials affect the density and balance of the ball, right down to its molecular structure. When the density is inconsistent, your ball will play erratically; i.e., inconsistent banking, missed shots, random positioning and zigzagging. That weird play you may have experienced on some tables might not be the table’s fault at all! Aramith uses phenol resin to manufacture their billiards balls. The Aramith Premier Pool Balls are the most cost effective and are for the casual pool player. The Premier is the most popular because you get the most value for your money. The Aramith Premium Pool Balls are a little more expensive because their surface polish and density are even harder, which will increase their longevity. The Aramith Pro Cup Pool Balls are the best in the world, and are the kind used in most tournament play.
Because they’re built to outlast the less expensive pool table balls, it really is true – you get what you pay for. In the long run, you’ll even come out ahead when you purchase phoenix billiards balls; not only do they last a lifetime, they won’t rough up your pool table cloth like the cheaper billiards balls will, saving you the cost of a cloth replacement.
In addition to traditional billiards balls, Aramith also makes decorative balls. For example, the Great White Shark set looks like sharks are swimming across your arizona pool table. If you’re a competitor, you’ll enjoy the Camouflage set, “Because pool is combat.” Or, if you’re introducing your children to the game, order the Disney set.
Buyer beware: Since Aramith balls are some of the very best, other sellers will try to fool you into thinking their balls are Aramith balls by printing “Belgium” on the packaging. When you purchase your Aramith pool table balls from us, you can be assured you’re getting the real deal. And, no matter which style of billiards balls you choose for your phoenix pool table, don’t forget the pool ball cleaner!

How do you get the angle right in billiards?
Filed Under Billiards | Comments Off
Asked this before, but didn’t get the answer I was looking for - so more detail:
1 ball is at one of the corner pockets - but slightly off center.
cue ball is at the other end of the table.
To pocket the 1 ball, you have to hit it slightly off center so that the glancing blow sends it into the pocket.
What is a good technique to use to figure out where the cue should hit the object ball?

Billiard Room Designs
Filed Under Billiards | Comments Off
Billiards is a classic game that has been played in some form or another for centuries. It’s a game for people of all ages, and today is being played in pool halls across the country. The popular trend however, is for people to get out of the pool halls in exchange for playing billiards in their own homes! This dream can become a reality for you as well, once you design your own billiard room.
Spacing and Billiard Table Selection
The first step in designing your billiard room is figuring out how much space you’ll need. An adult or regulation size pool table is 9 feet long, and a smaller, child’s table will be about 7 feet long. Tables are also made in all sizes in between, so if space is an issue for you, you should be able to find one around 8 feet. You should also consider how much room the shooter will need. A good idea is to give an adult shooter 4-6 feet of space around the table, and 3-5 feet for children. Once you have an idea of the size of your billiard table, you can pick one out. If you plan on keeping your table for a long time, the best idea is to buy one with a solid wood frame, and solid wood sub-rails. You should also take note of the “live gum rubber” percentage of the rail cushion. A higher percentage is equivalent to better quality.
Decorating
The next step in designing your billiard room is decorating. A popular first step in decorating is billiard lamps. Billiard lamps come in all shapes and colors, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding one that is suitable to your tastes, and the color scheme of your billiard room. Billiard lamps are fairly easy to install yourself, but you may need some small tools such as a screwdriver or pliers. An old-fashioned juke box is a popular alternative to a big stereo system; however, the popular trend is for music to be played in the form of mp3s. A stereo with mp3 capabilities is probably a good investment, if music in your billiard room is important to you. Surround sound speakers are another popular choice for billiard rooms, as they aren’t too expensive and can be installed simply with the use of an instruction manual. Popular wall hangings for billiard rooms can be found at any home decorating store and at online billiards stores. You will also need a place to put your pool cues when they are not in use. Wall-hanging cue racks are popular in billiard rooms, as are cue racks that sit on the floor.
Once your billiard room is finished, you will have the ideal spot for entertaining friends and family for many years to come. As an added bonus, a game or billiard room is a sought after feature that many potential home buyers look for - which makes your billiard room a wise investment if you decide to put your home on the market later on.

Cheap Pool Tables: Short on Price, Long on Quality
Filed Under Billiards | Comments Off
When you’re looking for cheap pool tables, you wonder if you’ll be sacrificing quality. No, you don’t! There are several ways you can cut costs and still buy quality pool tables. There are all kinds of pool tables in arizona, and ours are built for years of fun games played with your friends and family.
If you’re short on space or short on cash (or both), consider purchasing a 7 or 8-foot pool table. When you purchase a smaller table, you’re saving the labor and materials that the tournament 9-foot table requires. And you can save a large chunk of change when you go with either metal or a wood veneer instead of a pricey hardwood frame. A cloth cover that has more of a nylon blend than wool will save you money, too. Finally, if you choose a pool table in phoenix that has weaved drop pockets instead of a ball return or leather will bring additional savings.
So, where do you start? Which cheap pool table manufacturer do you choose? If you go with The C.L. Bailey Co., you’ll be getting a table made by a family who has spent decades as pool table manufacturers. This company with manufacturing facilities here in the US uses computerized woodworking as well as quality products from Asia to keep their costs down. Check out The Black Knight, The Addison and The Renegade models. Since C.L. Bailey Co. was recently acquired by The Armand Capital Group, the parent company of Saluc SA (the manufacturer of Aramith pool table balls), they have a strong presence in the billiards industry. Our Fischer brand is also under the same Armand Capital Group umbrella.
Speaking of Aramith, perhaps you’ll want your phoenix billiards table to be one from the versatile Aramith Fusion line. Some of their tables have a plank that covers the pool table, so that it can also be used as a dining or an office meeting table! Not only do you get a table that performs triple duties, some tables come with an Aramith pool ball set, four maple cues, cue accessories, bridge, triangle, chalk, and a rule book (all of which can be stored under the plank), making it a great value.
World of Leisure is a specialized manufacturer that only builds pool tables. Check out their Winchester, Challenger, Richland and Houston models, which are all reasonably priced.
In addition to making pool tables, Imperial International is also a slate importer and distributor. Their popular Eliminator, Black Pearl, Shadow or Washington pool tables are excellent values. Or, you might want to assemble your own cheap pool table at our Build Your Own Table link. Built by Imperial, you can choose the finish, legs, pockets and cloth color, all to reflect your personality and style. Since you can choose what you want from the bottom up, you can make it short on price and long on quality.
