Wooden Pool Table? What would you recommend?

January 24, 2008 By: admin Category: Billiards 6 Comments →

matt asked:

I have a pool table but I’m not sure if it is wood or combination wood-slate. It cant be slate because it is light (compared to slate) and it was cheap (again compared to slate)…Is there anything I could do to switch out from wood to slate? I am way out of money and I’m trying to figure out how to get a good table for 300 or less. What makes a slate table any better then a wooden table? The tables at bars seem pretty crappy sometimes…mine is cleaner atleast….thanks all for you answers

How can I bring up the pool table to play pool?

January 18, 2008 By: admin Category: Billiards 1 Comment →

a_brandwein asked:

I used to be able to play Pool on this site with no problem. Now I can no longer bring up the Pool table. I need you to help me get back the pool table. Could you please tell me what to do in great detail how I can bring up the Pool table again? And if that doesn’t work, can I talk to a technician who can walk me through the process? I really appreciate your assistance. If you can’t help me, nobody can! I would hate to think that I can no longer play Yahoo Pool.
Thank you, Alan Brandwein

I tried turning off the Pop-up blocker. It didn’t work. I still can’t bring up the Pool table, or even a card table to play Hearts on my Windows Internet Explorer. I used to have no problem. Now it’s an impossibility! Can anybody help me?? I’ll try any suggestions. Thanks.

sorry accidentally deletedthis question. Bar+billiards etiquette?

January 14, 2008 By: admin Category: Billiards 4 Comments →

giles2_2 asked:

Okay, so i used to be a hardcore shark in my early teens as we had a table in the basement, i had my own cues and books about billiards and stuff. The only people i couldnt beat were older family members like uncles. But billiards is something that ran in the family…
well ive lost touch.
Any pool hall ive been to seems shady, hustlers, gangsters, and alcohol. There happens to be a pub down the street that has tables(i forget how many)…. i want to get good again. It was such a good feeling, yes winning, but just making a good shot, strategy, and style.

I am not very comfortable going into a drinking establishment alone, but i would like to play again.

Is it rude to shoot a game by yourself?
What do i need to know to have a good safe time?
thanks guys
I do drink, and im fine when i drink or am totally wasted. So that much wouldnt be out of place.

why do Billiards balls spin more than snooker balls??

January 09, 2008 By: admin Category: Billiards 3 Comments →

haggis asked:

I asked this question sometime ago and they told me that if you hit the cue with the same speed and power the spin of the ball will be the same. I personally have not playes billiards so much and I dont have any experience, but when I watch Billiards games they give the balls some amazing spins and the balls actually curve in a crazy way.but in snooker I have only seen players like jimmy white and mark williams giving the balls some back spins, and when players are snookered(well not completely!)they use the cusions instead of curling the ball in the board. when I tried to curl the snooker ball as much as I could, I could only see the difference when the ball hits the cusions.it actually doesnt curve that much on the bed of the table.
Please help me.

A good website for billiards?

January 03, 2008 By: admin Category: Billiards 4 Comments →

Melissa asked:

I need a good website that I can download from (without harmful viruses) and that I can play billiards/pool. I would like it to have realistic stuff too. But it HAS to have something showing where the ball that’s being hit is going to go…
