John F asked: The game of billiards is highly overrated. I would say that half the people that shoot pool are fat, lazy, stupid, drunks, whores, because pool is played in bars is why it gets so much attention. Before you even think about buying an expensive pool table you should look in the paper or Internet. There are probably 10 million pool tables sitting in homes right now gathering dust, because the game is boring. Buying a new table is not very smart. But before you buy a pool table, please go and play ping pong and you’ll see how fun the game is and you’ll see how boring billiards is.

aarongroves103 asked: … my pool table is quite cheap and cheerful ( from argos £199). Its okay apart from the balls run very slow on the table making the game a bit boring and..well..slow.
Any ideas on how to make the cloth faster would be much appreciated.

dre o asked: see…I was out on the town shopping for a customized cue case..I’ve seen a brochure of a store/pool hall called the SharkShooter Billiards/Pool Hall selling/making them, but when I walked in, I saw nothing but fishing lures, fishing rods, fishing items, rifles, magazines, demo deer, Yahoo pool disks, Yahoo pool help handbooks, swimming pool cleaners, hoses & the such..I asked the clerk if he knew where I could find the cue case dealer, since I got directions for his store, & seen the brochure..He told me that he does indeed sell nothing but billiards supplies…the only reason why he had all this other crap in his store is due to the mere fact that he got tired of all the ppl who don’t know how to read & didn’t have proper education always coming into his store, with him having nothing to do about it…so he may as well kill 2 birds with one stone….haha….talk about the confusion i had on my face when i approached the store….damn…i wonder…should I get a job there & chase out all the ppl & put the proper stuff on display? Or should I just go along and take it up the tail pipe as did the owner?……….waddya think Johnny???

sweetwaterfish asked: have a Brunswick Balke Collender pool table that is from the 1920’s, I believe. It is “The Royal” model. The dimensions on it at 5′ x 9′ and its just too big for our room. Does anyone know of buyers of anitque pool tables or any valuation for this model? It could use a good refinishing, but is stable, and plays well.

Kris asked: Please, only serious/knowledgeable answers. TY!!!
I’ve got a Kasson pool table. The style is Gentry (I believe).
It’s 8 feet long. Oak. Dark blue cloth.
Now, I don’t know much about pool tables…so could you suggest how much I should put it up for on Craigslist?
If you aren’t sure, could you give me a link to a forum where I could ask?

Thank you so much! <3
Note: I have found 2 other ads (in different cities) and their tables are exactly like mine except both are 7". One is going for $1650 the other for $1800.

danielghofrani asked: I downloaded Live billiards 2 DEMO,
the only games available on the demo version was 8ball and 3ball but my favorite game was snooker which is only availible on the full version.
I was amazed by the realism of the game, its awesome. I may want to buy it to play the snooker but since snooker is different to 8ball I dont know if the snooker is as realistic in game play or no.cause snooker table is bigger than 8ball table and also the movement of the balls is different a little bit.
If you have the game Live billiards 2 please tell me if the snooker is as good as 8ball or not. I will choose your answer as the best answer if yoiu send a screenshot to danielghofrani@yahoo.ca

straight_shooter526 (retired) asked: Does anyone else feel that Tom Ross has been putting way too much of his own politics into his column in the last few months? Even in the subtext, it’s very thinly veiled. Frankly, I don’t care what his beliefs are on the war in Iraq or his opinion of Ann Coulter. He shouldn’t be using a respected pool magazine as his own personal political soapbox. Regardless of what your political views are, can we agree that “Billiards Digest” is not an appropriate outlet? S K asked: I’m looking to buy a combination pool/ air hockey/ ping pong table. (or just pool and air hockey.) I know cheaper pool tables are made of mdf rather than slate and can warp. That’s okay, I’m just looking for some friendly gaming fun. I’ve been looking at Harvard and Mizerak tables at Sears. I want a cheaper table because it will probably be lighter and I won’t feel as bad if I break it and/or spill beer on it, or have to leave it behind when I move next year.
Is a 6-foot table too small to enjoy? (I’m 25, and don’t want one of those 4 or 5-foot kid tables.)
Are the multi-game tables as functionally cool as they seem or would I be better off buying separate tables?
Do you have experience with any of these tables that you can share? Thanks.
